Emergency Chiller Hire: You Just Don't Know

29-Jul-2015

For the second time in a month, a Tesco store in Little Lever (Greater Manchester) lost thousands of pounds of fresh and frozen food after chillers and freezers inexplicably broke down. Although technicians were able to get the units up and running within 24 hours, the store still lost almost all of its refrigerated and frozen stock in the incident. It just goes to show that you never know when you might need emergency chiller hire.

This most recent incident occurred on Friday, 10 July (2015). The store's manager apologised to customers via social media and in person, assuring them that she and her staff were working hard to figure out what was causing the problems and get it corrected. The most curious thing about the entire episode is that the store is only ten months old. It opened last October, offering the local area more than 29,000 ft.² of floor space packed with all kinds of fresh and pre-packaged foods.

News reports say that when the recent failure was discovered, fresh and frozen foods were moved to other parts of the store where refrigeration was available. However, there was just not enough space to accommodate all the products affected. Furthermore, management had no way of knowing how long it would take to get the units up and running. They gambled, and they lost. This was one situation when emergency chiller hire would have come in very handy.

Emergency Delivery from Icecool

Icecool Trailers specialises in this very kind of thing. Within our Greater London service area, we can provide emergency chiller hire within two hours. That is certainly a short enough time span in which fresh foods and frozen products can be preserved until our units arrive on site. Emergency chiller hire can be arranged using either trailers or walk-in rooms.

Trailers can be towed to your location and set up wherever you have adequate parking space and access to an electrical outlet. They are the perfect solution for temporary emergencies that are likely to be resolved within a short period. Our walk-in rooms are a better solution for prolonged emergencies or in cases where internal refrigeration is preferred for security or food safety reasons.

Our customers appreciate our walk-in rooms because we do not need an overhead door or loading dock to complete delivery and set up. Instead, we carry our walk-in refrigerators and freezers right through the front door as a series of panels that are then assembled and set up wherever the customer wants them.

Tesco management says they are currently in the process of trying to determine why the refrigeration units in their Little Lever store have failed twice within the last month. Until they solve the puzzle, staff will be on edge – especially on those warmer days when refrigeration units are worked that much harder. Should they need us for emergency chiller hire, we will be happy to respond with the trailers or walk-in rooms they need to keep fresh and frozen foods safe.
